A charge doesn’t equal a conviction.

Don’t go without an attorney for a Drug Offense. Many of the drug-related crimes are prosecuted in Circuit Court which means the fines and penalties that go along with them can be extensive.  A conviction for a drug offense could have long term implications with employment, ability to obtain student loans, or even rent an apartment.

Unfortunately in my years as a prosecutor, I saw many lives affected by drug offenses.  A drug addiction or a “friend” dumping something in your car shouldn’t have lasting effects on you.   Drug offenses can have severe repercussions.  For example, South Carolina law provides that simple possession of cocaine carries up to 3 years in prison and up to a $5000 fine. Four grams or more of heroin can get you up to 25 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
